I just got my laptop yesterday. It's nice, but it still has the defualt bios. The whole CPU downclocking + keyboard lag are driving me INSANE. I have followed Alienware's tutorial (as best as I could, considering that in their example they used nero 6 which is highly outdated) but it still isn't working. I've wasted SIX of my cd-r's now!!! I follow the tutorial yet when I try to boot off of it nothing happens!
Please help me right away I'd like to actually play some games which is nearly impossible with keyboard lag and cpu downclocking! UGGGGG
-
Did you set cd-rom drive as the first device in you boot list, the default on mine was the hard drive and the cd drive was like number five so it would skip it.
-
-
uh call roswell support at least if the tell to do something that messes it up its not ur fault.
-
Nevermind I got it working and now I'm running the latest bios woo!!!!! Finally no more keyboard lag
.
CPU-Z is still confusing me. It looks like it's still downclocking on the desktop. Is my stealth light on my touch panel supposed to be green or white? Does white mean that stealth mode is on, and green mean it's off? -
Then start wasting CD-RW's!!!
-
All Core2 and such will "downclock" when not in full use. This saves power and reduces heat, both of which are good things in a NB.
-
See: Intel Speedstep Technology for more information. -
-
the power button and the AW head on the front will change dependant on power power supply...either battery or AC. -
true. and both will pulse while charging.
-
.
So solid white color alien head = charged. Blue = battery. Pulsing = charging?
And I still don't know what the weird flying saucer button does, it's the one to the left of the stealth mode button. In between stealth button and wifi button. -
yes. also, flashing eyes = HDD being accessed.
on a side note, the "wierd saucer button" gives you access to the Command Center, where you can access "AlienFX", which lets you change all the LED colors on your m15x. "AlienAI" lets you change power settings. "AlienSense" lets you change the settings for the facial login feature, and "AlienTouch" lets you customize the touchpad. -
Ah well my laptop didn't come with it (I bought it from someone locally). Is there a way to "unlock" the alienfx lighting system?
-
sure. install the command center and OSD.
-
-
totally different keyboard for lights or no lights.
-
-
if you can find one...then locate findvikas's threads...somewhere he has instructions for the program...
you may also check the 'newest' sticky at the top...m15x mini hive
good stuff there too... -
you can get the illuminated keyboard from some one who owns a m15x here for liek 40-50 bucks and they have a guide on AW website to install it
when you install command center and osd then it will look liek this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouTxuJMZl_E

-

-
-

id make one of mine but 3 colors is not impressive lol but i can fire up fear 2 and max every thing out
-
Anybody selling a used/new illuminated keyboard for the m15x per chance?
-
I saw some m15x keyboards for sale on ebay. You should check it out if you are serious.
-
I looked, but there are no illuminated ones up fo sale right now
-
Are you sure? I see one for $26 from Cyberinfinity. This one has two connectors. THe other keyboard only has one connector and specifically says no AlienFX on the description.
-
-
Hey man, it's your call. I'm just trying to help out. If you are serious email the guy about the keyboard with the 2 connectors. I already have an alienfx lighted keyboard so I don't need it.
-
lol alienfx FTW any m15x owner can get one from AW and you pay them or ebay or some other place
-
I emailed the seller of the keyboard, and he said yes that it is with Alienfx. Just an FYI, for anybody who is looking for a cheaper keyboard than from AW.
-
Somebody called my name or I heard AlienFX ??? Look at my signature for all your AlienFX needs
