Hello, i currently have a 8700m GT on my Alienware m15x system, and was curious if its possible to upgrade my graphics card to a new card? On the Alienware website they list 8600M GT, 8700M GT (mine) and 9800M GT. Are these my only options? no ATI brands work? also is this something i can upgrade myself or does it have to be sent into alienware to upgrade?

They will send you the cards and these are the only options available as of yet. There is a guide on their support site telling you how to remove and replace the graphics card and you order the card through customer service. I highly recommend upgrading to the 9800m gt. It will be more than double the performance in games.

i think it's 500$ if you send in your old card. you could get the card from a 3d party vendor, but it won't be under guarantee, and you won't be able to find the correct heatsink.
