m15x switch between GPU and intergrated Chip set
How ?
-
hit fn + f7
when in dedicated it will switch to integrated
when in integrated it will switch to dedicated -
how can u tell witch one its on ??
-
While running on the integrated GPU, a blue square icon will display in the system tray. Hover over it and it will says it's for the Intel GPU.
-
is'nt it also fn + f7 that opens the drive door as i read in a previous thread?

The optical drive can be ejected using Fn + F8. Switch between graphics cards using Fn + F7 as noted. -
When I first tried switching between GPU and integrated I got the BSOD while booting in to Vista, but it never happened again. Did this happen to anyone?
-
were you running different software then?
-
Does the drive not have a button to eject ? It would be annoying if it didnt
-
No it doesn't have the eject button. Honestly I don't see that as a problem. I kinda like it this way, it feels like a Mac.
-
no button to eject - either via right mouse click on the drive icon or the fn + f8 key. I think that was in an attempt to make the exterior finish as smooth(free from physical buttons) as possible.
-
dont forget the emergency eject button if you hate pressing fn + f8. just stick a paper clip and it comes out. i do not recommend using this method at all
-
are u serious?? no eject button..?
-
I don't see why it's a big problem... I think a lot of laptops are slowly going this route, especially with slot-loaded systems like on most Macs.
basically, if you need the CD out before the OS loads, you can Fn+F8 and eject it during the BIOS, drop in a disk and pop it shut pretty quick. Under windows, you can still Fn+F8 (my preference, though it seems to freeze the system temporarily, and i get (normally) audio jitter because of it)... or you can eject it from 'my computer'.
Not like you can never eject it... I don't see the big deal.
Plus, I'll be replacing the DVD drive with the smart-bay battery soon, and i doubt I'll ever have it in long after i make that switch.
-
yep no eject button what I do if I'm try to boot from a cd is I go into the boot menu and then do fn+f8 which then will give me enough time to put the disc in.
-
myfn + f7 doesnt work, maybe thats another thing there sending me anew graphic card
-
where in the aw website that said it support switchable gpu, show me plz thanks you
-
You can do it yourself by holding down the right click button while your m15x is off. It will start up with your integrated card. Very nice feature for saving battery life because if you do it while running you'll have to restart anyway.
-
You can hit 'Pause' key or shortcut to go into boot menu, when on boot menu screen press the Fn+F7 to pop out the disk, Unless you want to test how quick you can replace the disk. This is same behavior with eject button, system at boot gives you same time if you are using eject button or Fn+F7
-
But can sometimes stuck in Integrated mode as well...
I think this is more of bug than being a feature, but who cares if this is what we wanted
This is a feature of ACPI which allow you to specify a key for Quick Boot, usually this is used for Media Center and display your media files without actually booting the entire system. Like there are few laptops with secondary display placed in hood to display your media files or like one of the HP/lenovo laptop which can also display/sync your emails without booting into Windows -
Are you sure it's just not the OSD utility that's corrupted? I would try uninstalling and then reinstalling the OSD utility, restart, and then try again.
