Hi all,
I noticed on the Alienware website that the 200 GB option for the m15x's HDD is suddenly missing. Will it ever be back? Also, can I call Alienware to have them partition the hard drive the way I want, has anyone tried doing this? Lastly what do you all feel about the new Skullcap design, is the chassis stronger/sturdier..please let me know
Thanking y'all,
Yemo
PS : I will be ordering the m15x from the US website so I gues it would help if users from the US gave their views![]()

i doubt the 200 gigabyte drive will be back since if they dont list it on their website they probably wont get any more shipments in.
the new skull cap design is the same as the ripley design. nothing is updated except the lcd lid.
I think AW installs everything on their hard drive using an image they already have and then loading anything else extra that you need like avatars and the wallpapers you selected. I highly doubt they are willing to make a completely new image to install for you. -
Hi Yemo,
Unfortunately I don't think Alienware will partition it for you. The option does exist, but it's only for commercial and gov (which requires you to submit and image to Alienware). I'm waiting for my m15x to be built, so I'm not sure if the skullcap is stronger than the ripley. I would imagine it's not since the plastic is the same. However, the skullcap might actually absorb a little more pressure because of the distance of space between the back LCD plastics and screen.

The ridges in the skull design will probably give it more twisting strength due to their shape but i doubt they'll be any direct improvements only the indirect one stated above

i asked if they could partition mine for me and they said no.

Partioning the HD is not to bad. I always reformat new PCs / Laptops as soon as I get them to remove and bloatware or outdated drivers, and do a fresh OS install partitioning the drives in the way i want i to be and then applying all the latest drivers and such.
Pretty much just put in the Vista CD and click new install or something and then it asks you how you want to set up your HD -
AW is known for not putting any bloatware in their systems. that way you dont have to do a fresh install before you even get to use the laptop

I wander if theyr ever going to introduce montevina into this thing. I guess the 'black m15x' will remain a rumour...anyway..time to order the alien for college!
