No, that should be alright, DriveCleaner is doing a good job!
But I´m using "CCleaner", first deinstall the driver with CCleaner, than run (twice) the regestry clean with CCleaner and install the new driver!
Sometimes vista hide somewher old driver details, and then it could happen that the new driver get mixed with the old, you can check this ... see on the picture :

-
Have you tried http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ ?
-
EDIT: Installed 167.55 driver now, works fine. -
It has 167.55, lol. On page 6 in drivers. Laptopvideo2go is, imo, the best place to get them.

Has anyone tried the 177.92 drivers yet?
Nevermind, guess I'll try it out. -
Has anyone found a solution to the windows XP driver downclocking issue with all non ALIENWARE released drivers?

How are the 177.92 drivers, Oceanus? I'm still using the 177.83 drivers that were released with the PhysX update.
-
new drivers? sweet-o! how are they, Oceanus?
-
Well, I can't really compare them to the other drivers that you guys have been using since I did a step up from the beta drivers from MyHive. So far, the performance seemed to have increased two-fold. I have been able to get a way higher FPS and so far, gaming as been phenomenally smooth.
The only expense is the increased temperatures. GPU temperatures on medium load have climbed from the previous 56-57 degrees (I don't play major graphic intensive games like you guys do) to 61-62 degrees. I think it's well worth it though. If I needed to desperately slice off some degrees, I could just downvolt my card a bit.
For other people though, they were able to get a tad better performance with these drivers. Here are some benchmarks other people have done.

177.92 drivers on vista 64 bit.
idle temps 50-53 degrees.*C.
gaming temps playing wow ~75*C.
gaming temps playing crysis ~82-91(91 after hour or two)
by the way is it worth getting physX / 177.92 support physX? would it impact battery life or anything also.. -
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
I have it installed on a m17x with full Sli working and if I look in control panel there is a PhysX setting, and on my machine it's enabled...
The new driver drops temps though ans performance doesn't seem bad, I'll try turning the PhysX off and see what difference it makes lol

Hm, those performance increases, despite their limited sizes, are quite enticing. I'll update to these drivers when I wake up.
