Best thing to do is Call Alienware before you do anything stupid. Why act stupid and void your warrintee. Differnt countrys have differnt warrintees.

Buzzin, could you take some pictures of this assembly and post them? That's actually very useful information.

I think anyone that has to replace the anything near the monitor should call Alienware frist. Why should you risk it?

Ram, Hard drive, and gpu woopie do Most of the time that can be replaced with no problems

Yeah, I'll try to get around to it this evening. For everyone freaking out about using a screwdriver on 6 screws, you obviously aren't technically or mechanically minded and *should* stay away from doing something like the procedure I described. If it at all worries you, don't do it. Simple as that.

it's not so much that i couldn't do it, but that i just don't want to. i've got a two year warranty on my m15x, and it would be foolish to void for something like this.

Utterly and completely happy with mine after many weeks of use. No problems whatsoever and I've been opening and closing every day, transporting intermittently, traveling with it intermittently, and gaming on it.

I find it very interesting that the X34 bios fix that virtually solves the cpu downclocking and touch control responsiveness hasn't gotten more attention on this forum.

For those of you considering buying one, know that AW has slowly been addressing the technical issues and there seems to be a proliferation of negative posters on here that tend to completely and utterly blow things out of proportion. It's not a perfect machine, but it's definitely giving me a good deal of enjoyment so far.

mine's working just fine, except for the touch controls not responding after hibernation, which is why i'll be a flashing the x34 BIOS soon. beyond that, awesome performance. my hinges work perfect, as does everything else. very happy customer here :D
