anyone know if it's possible to use the digital optical out for audio and hdmi video at the same time? i have the hdmi hooked up directly to my hdtv, but i'd like the audio to go to my logitech z-5500s. i'm using a 3.5mm toslink adapter to hook up the optical to my speakers. when i connect the hdmi cable, the audio routes through hdmi and to my tv speakers. any way to make it not route through the hdmi cable? thanks in advance

I uninstalled the Realtek HD-Audio Software and I'm now running the Vista-standard drivers after I had big problems when changing from digital to "analog"-out because many programs like Teamspeak just not let me choose the mic plugged in but only the internal laptopmic. And I'm sure I saw a option when I plugged my laptop to the TV in the "Playback"-options (right click on the speaker symbol in the tray) that was called "HDMI" and there should still be the "Digital Out (SPDIF)"option so maybe you can choose between them there?
Could be that its named different because I'm using a German Vista version!

i use a female dvi to male hdmi converter for video. this would then allow you to plug your speakers into the 3.5mm jack.

Does the M15X output both audio and video via HDMI?

    (I know it's a bit offtopic)

Great... seems like my wife's 1530 doesn't output audio through HDMI.

NM: Just read up on it and you need to make some changes for it to work.

the m15x should automatically output audio through the audio jack and HDMI. mine did anyway. (i was wrong about forcing it, it just worked)
