hi everyone, i'm from Italy and i recently purchased an m17 with those spec:
P8400 (upgrade after the warranty has expired), 2 hd 3870, 2 gb of ram(looking for upgrade) and a 160 gb hd (upgrade is near).
i've found a problem: after i wake up the nb after the sleep mode sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't start to lag, the sound and the video, games, a lot of stuff start to lag, and is quite annoying. It stops just after a reboot. I've emailed aw and they said it could be a bios problem, that i have to phone aw to upgrade my bios. i just wanted to hear some other opinions before calling, because from italy to ireland it is really expensive.
hope somebody could help![]()
best regards
alessandro

what video drivers are you using?
-
Buy skype for a month and call over skype. It will cost less than one one hour call probably, 9.95 USD for unlimited worldwide calling.
Not the help you're looking for but still hopefully worth something to you. -
the video drivers aren't a problem cause it does the same thing with the aw ones and the 9.1 modded....even the audio lag and does a "frssshhh" (onomatopeic sound) intermittently...

This has nothing to do with the M17, but a bug in windows vista coming out of sleep mode. I have experienced this with three separate notebooks that run Vista, a lenovo, a compaq, and my M17. All are running premium, two are running 64bit and one 32bit. In short, dont put it to sleep, only hypernate or off. This is the only resolution I've come to. It's been months since I noticed this and there's been no resolution.

i'm a little bit happier because it isn't an hardware/m17 bios problem, but really there isn't any way to fix it?
ps: are you sure of this? heard of anyone else having this problem?
thank you very much
alessandro -
No I can only speak from first person experience, but doing a google search for "audio stutter vista sleep" you will find articles and postings on it. I do not know if it is an official vista bug or what not, I only know I have had it with three different notebooks and have been able to find other people with a similar issue.

oh that doesn't sounds good at all.....so no more sleep mode since they don't fix this problem...thank you very much!

Mine does it too.
-
yeah after sleep i also get the issue...just forget about sleep lol
-
mine did do this as well, correct the answer is turn off hibernate and sleep
-
no sleep.
I have try many different ways to fix it, but no success. Don't bother trying to solve it.
Even windows 7 has this problem, I think. -
Agreed. I disabled sleep, and replaced all sleep settings with hibernate and haven't had anything since. I read about this before getting the laptop and when I got it, I tried to reproduce the problem, succeeded, and then killed sleep modes.

Sorry for being a noob...but what is hybernate and how do i put my M17 into it?

Hi, I have the sound, mouse and game lag after coming out of sleep mode, and I know that this is an old thread, but since windows 7 is out, I wanted to know if a fresh install of windows 7 64bit would fix the sleep issues.
My config:
M17 vista 32bit
2 ATI 3870 cards on crossfire
3G RAM, processor T9600 2.80GHz, 320GB HDrive.
Thanks in advance. -
