    I tried fitting the card today and installed it without any trouble. Upon loading windows, the card couldget the card working correctly. I manually went to the intel website and got the correct drivers and installed them but it still gives me "This Device Cannot Start (Code 10)"

    I know that there is a compatibility problem on these cards between IBM/HP laptops and everything else. On closer inspection of the card I noticed an IBM part number of 43Y6496 (Im an IBM computer engineer) which when googled relates to the IBM/Lenovo laptops. Is there a possibility that this adapter is actually one for an IBM machine? Or maybe it is just faulty?

    Yes i did have this problem before, w my hp firebird,
    your motherboard do not support any intel wireless card.
    The only one tha work on you system is, any broadcom wireless card

    Im sure that that is not correct.

    Alienware were selling the m17 with the 5300 at one point. And many people on here have the 5300 in their m17's.
