So I am trying to do the "right" thing by uninstalling and reinstalling the audio and video drivers in sequence, now do uninstall just the driver or the hardware itself or both? please help me out, this stuttering and cracking crap is really annoying. thanks

Hi faithful
If you are going this far, and if you have a clean version of windows, I would backup and reinstall windows from scratch. And i dont mean using the respawn cd.
Next, ATI should have new notebook drivers out soon (these are the latest to be found here: link). If those dont work then you will have to get some hacked drivers for the latest and greatest (google search amd notebook drivers). Always install video drivers first.
Now. If you have vista or 7 installed, then you have a good chance that an audio driver is installed. Test it. If it is not crackling, then DO NOT INSTALL a new audio driver. Windows comes with the most stable version, especially in 7.
As a final note, if you do not use bluetooth, firewire, etc. then DO NOT install the drivers for these devices. one of the sources of crackling and lost audio is the fact that a laptop BIOS cannot handle too much IO, so the less devices installed, the better.
Good Luck! -
thanks, i will try it out and see what's up.
m17 - audio or video driver 1st?
