    Hi

I have a m17 and the Desktopdriver for the 3870 Modded and installed. But (as before) it is not possible to set in BF2 1440x900 oder 1280x800 ...

I was told to install a new Driver and the problem would be solved ... but it isn't ...

I instaled Vista again and the Drivers I found on the Alienwarewebside (after this I chanced the GraficsDriver (written above) but with no succes :(

    Can sb help me pls?
    Greetings

since bf2 is a pretty old game it might just not have wide screen support. i know some old games on the m15x will have black bars on the side to make it TFT ratio again.

The trick to setting BF2 in that mode is all right here:

    +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

    1. Go to your desktop.
    2. Right Click on BF2.
    3. Click Properties
    4. Go in the shortcut tab
    5. Where it says target, after u see

.exe" make sure there is nothing after it.

    6. Make a space after .exe", and copy this:

    +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

Apply, click ok, and try it out. BF2 definitely looks much better at 1440x900. Enjoy.

If that doesnt work made sure you do a proper uninstall (safe mode) or else the drivers wont work properly.

TFT? I think you mean CRT, and even that's wrong. originally, displays used 4:3 as their aspect ratio, HD standards are usually 16:9... almost always with not-square pixels... and current "widescreen" computer standards are 16:10

if your drivers are set to maintain aspect ratio, you'll get black bars, if not, you'll get a stretch image (which is worse imo)

CRT is actually Cathode Ray Tube
TFT is actually Thin Film Transistor

both refer to display technologies which are currently in use, though, I'm not sure how many CRT displays are still in production...

He's talking about BF2 not allowing any res above 1200x800. You have to force it with the command line.

also. the command line STILL doesn't do it right. the FIELD OF VIEW ISN'T SET RIGHT.

I use a program called widescreenfixer. I use the 1.32 version when playing BF2. the difference when changing the FOV is like night and day. try it out.

I have BF2, and the command line works fine for me. Running it at native res, no black bars or scaling.

    Bamn ... it doesn't work with "+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900" The Minimap is still not "round" :(

I downloaded 8.12 (i think), Modded it, deinstalled (witch Software) the old Drivers, reboot, installed the Modded Driver and reboot ...

Did 8.12 fixed all problems or did you fix 8.12 to fix all problems? (my english isn't that good to understand this sentence exactly)

    Greetings
    Julian

Edit: how can I activate "Blackbars" if the resolution of the Game isn't the native? This would show me axactly if it works or not^^

Ok ... now I tryed quite every driver ... No one solved the problem ...

So I reinstalled the myHive AW driver ... with this I scored a new record in 3DMark06 ...

Even the newest drivers doesn't give you that good 3DMakr06 scorse ... but what about 3DMark Vantage?

I was willing to make a little test @ 3DMark Vantage compareing AW myHive driver, wich scored a personal record @ 3DMark06, and the E-wrecked drivers ...

BUT ... when I want to start Vantage ... (by pressing "READY TO LAUNCH") ... I get the message:

    Important Information:
Minimum required resolution is not supported.

Has sb testet 3DMark Vantage with the m17 bevor installating new graphic drivers?

    Same problem? Or no problem?

    An nother interesting fact:
    there should stand 1440x900?

    Thanks for your help
    Greetings
    Julian

Edit: E-wrecked drivers will be installed soon again ...

He has 1440.900 which vantage won't run unless using an external. 8.10 gives better 3dmark scores. 8.12 gives better gaming performance. Depends on what you're looking for.

im just wondering. im sure the alienware drivers are tweaked to give better 3dm06 scores. it is odd though that he is not able to get it to work.

    I am looking for gaming @ 1280x800 :)

But why the hell is 3DMark Vantage not able to use 1280x720 as 3DMark06?

Do they want making me buy the licence to test it a few times?

I think so too ... not a tweek like chancing the name of the driver would stops the boost ... but just a bit more optimiced for 3DMark06 than the normal Drivers ... and it is realy odd ... tomorrow (today :) ) I'll cal the german support service ... Now that I know, that I'll not get a Recovery DVD I'll have to make them make it work again by AlienContact ...

Otherwise I'll have to send it back :'(

if you can get an oem copy of the cd off the internet you can install it with the cd key under your battery. I think Microsoft sells them for 10 usd.

To bring this Thread to an end ... I contacted the support and ...

Oh man! Even the Alienware guy has no solution! (but he was kind^^)

He said something like: Maybe AW has a newer driver online than that one wich was on my m17 (myHive Version = DL Area Version) ... and this newer driver doesn't support 1280x800  ...

    And he said:
There is no way to reinstall the "deliveringstatus" because you deleted the files ... *helpfull answer*

I am note quite sure, may be I should sent it back (you have 2 weeks or?) ...

    I expected too much ...

what do you guys think of this?
    Greetings
    Julian
