Hi, is it normal the usb transfer speeds are all very slow on the m17? The speeds are in the 5-10 MB/sec range. I seem to recall my older laptop running xp, also using usb 2.0 getting at least 30-40 MB/sec.

    Thanks!

I'm currently using Vista Ultimate sp2

Yes, it's the same device. Wiki'd usb 2.0 transfer speeds and it says that it should top out at 60 MB/sec. Any reason why I'm only getting a fraction of the transfer speed?

I guess if nothing can be done, its not an issue with my m17, or with Vista. So at least, that's good news.

I'm moving all of my home movies shot in HD. The total file size of all the movies is 220 GBs (each movie is about 5-10 GBs) and it is transferring at 4 MB/ sec.

I also just moved a 150 MB file to see the transfer rate, and that trasfered at about 8 MB/sec.

    Thanks for your replies. :)

    Lol

could be be because they are 220 GB's

try a 30 mb file ....From external to internal right?

you really might wanna think about a E-sata drive you will get speeds of a internal HD

I've been unsuccessful getting my WD MyBook (eSATA capable) drive to work with my M17. Per the manual, its not hot swappable, you have to boot it with the drive already plugged into the eSATA port, but I can't get windows to boot past the green status bar in this configuration, it locks up before ever getting to the windows login screen. I'm stuck using my eSATA Capable drive as a USB 2.0 drive which ultimately sucks.

-EDIT- Both AW support and WD support are no help in resolving this issue either.
