m17, the 4870's are gonna be here soon and they will smoke the dual nvidias. Also you will want to spend more on a faster processor.

I suggest spending a bit extra on my laptop.. see sig for details. Really though, if you decide otherwise.. go with the M17, or OCZ whitebook. You'll never offend anyone by breaking it out in public, and also never be harassed for your flamboyant laptop. The Qosmio is nice..but this thing outperforms it by a good measure.

I too did this same comparison before purchasing the m17. I was put off by the toshibas looks, the plastic slippery keyboard, and processor. The alienware in my sig cost a touch more, but I feel it was more than worth the cost. I would however suggest the OCZ whitebook or another vendor. The main reason being, I am an enthusiast who loves toying around with hardware. The alienware has a complete locked down bios, whereas the whitebook and other OEMs give full access to things such as bus speed, memory timing etc. If I had to do it again i'd easily choose this platform, just not the vendor.

The outword appearance of the toshiba is a big turn off. and people will stare(not in a good way.) i went to best buy and i saw the toshiba in real life. and the keyboard on it is so bad. it was like a sponge to me. it was huge. very very huge.

i think the only thing it was on it is the speakers. 4.1 and they are very loud. very loud and cleaar. yes the toshiba has 3gpu's where you can save battery life. but compared to the M17, the toshiba max resoltion is 1680*1200 or something like that. compared to the m17 which is 1920*1200. a single 9800m gts is alittle bit faster than a single 3870. but when compared sli and crossfire(2 gpus in one.) the 3870 blows it away.

i would go for the Ocz.

I thought ATI crossfire is worse than SLI due to drivers.

i actually start the same thread and decided on the m17 since the gpus are better and the 4870's and the cpu the m17 wins because its future roof and faster. i kinda liked the 706 look i thought it was unique what i was going for but i like AW power and looks so i went with it
