is it possible for dell to upgrade your current gpu to 4870 ???![]()

im sure it is but it will cost alot.

I wouldn' consider the small performance gain percentage of the 4870's over the dual 280m's an upgrade--more like a sideways move.

We will have to wait and see how much it cost. Also to see if AW will credit the cost of the GTX 280m's (or your current card/s) towards the price of upgrade. If it is that simple, I will likely be tempted. Probably though you will have to get the cards and sell your GTX 280m's yourself
-
I would not count on them giving credit for your old cards.

I know, which is why I will probably have these GTX 280m's for the life of this laptop lol
The more I read the more I am liking the idea of the new i7 920xm though. When that comes out with dual next gen cards (5k/GT300) in 17" I am going to be awfully tempted
But for now, I think I am set -
Dell will not credit you for your current cards in any shape or form. lol
If you want the 4870's you're going to have to pony up the dough -

Ye I cant wait to order my 15, just waiting for the win7 full install sales date. -

one thing to be said for sure though if I get the 4870's, they will most likely be a hell of a lot quieter.....my GTX 280m's squeal ALOT and LOUDLY

i wonder if the cards will be available for the clevo's
unlikey with clevo being dominated with nvidia the last few years, but if they are i will be tempted to swap out
if not i doubt i will change untill i7 with dual 300's -

given that flex is most likely making these (and probably ONLY for AW at that), I doubt you will see them being sold by Clevo distributors
m17x 280m upgrade to 4870?
