Hey just a minor problem I can't solve which I was curious to see if anyone else was experiencing with the m17x.

Basically the Power Button and the Alienhead are irregular. When I tell them to be white, they go light blue, when I tell them to be orange, they go green, when I tell them to go purple or pink they go dark blue. Interesting thing is the rim around the power button gives the correct color while the eyes produce the irregular one...while the Alienhead just always produces an irregular. Only colors I can get are red, blue and green.

Been trying to fix it for a while with no luck. It's quite the little annoyance. Was just wondering was anyone else experiencing it and better yet, has anyone fixed it if they have experienced it?

Below is a picture of it SUPPOSED to be orange.

hmmm... might be light bleed from the touch controls... maybe you could try that color testing utility findvikas built to see if the effect is related to Alienware Command Center or something else.

Well when I rang AW support, they gave me instructions. It involved removing AW Command Center, ATK Hotkey, and removing 'Alienware' from the registry; with a lot of restarts in between. Then you just download it all + the keyboard patch and try it again.

...didn't work <_< and they basically gave me the impression they had ran out of ideas after that.

Seems to me as if the half-tone reds are malfunctioning. you say red does appear, but all the colours that should include red, simply don't. they're usually the colour you'd expect if you took red out of the mix.

Purple, should be blue/red, ends up blue
Orange, should be green/red, ends up green

    I might be wrong though.

but the colors are RGB. either all reds work, or all reds don't.

The half-tones would be connected to a circuit to dim the lights... kinda like a dimmer switch, which only turns on the lights half-way. if there's a fault in the circuit for the reds, anytime the reds only come on half-way, then they wouldn't come on at all.

however, when the reds come on full (only happens when RED is selected), then they would be immune to the issue.

Honestly, I think it's a hardware fault. either a bad connector, loose connector, broken circuit or solder or something of that sort...

IMO, this looks like a send-to-depot kinda problem.

I like the blues more anyways.

It did work when I first got it though...and I temporarily got it working properly again after I tried one of their corrective procedures but within a day or two it was back to its usual tricks...

If it is a hardware problem, I wonder how big a job it would be to fix it... Like I don't want them to tear the thing apart just to fix a screwed up (but VERY annoying) Alienhead and Power Button malfunction.

if you can get it working via software, then software should be able to fix it...

I think each time you install a new version of the command center it updates the bios of the controller for you... uncertain though.

considering doing so fixes the problem temporarily, it might be a bios corruption issue.

    Hey!
