Wow the SSD upgrade went from $400 to $520. I'm going to wait for the Blu-ray burner to be offered before I put in my order.
Edit: Hmm, No nVidia card options, just single ATI 4870 or X-Fire
Edit 2: They offer 1.2 TB 640GB 7,200RPM drives now! Nice, Going to get that and disable RAIDAlthough I think that may be inaccurate
-
omg, im getting my new m17x back on warranty, i wonder if they will send me a refreshed version??
i live in australia and had the laptop for less than 30 days and it basicly died, and there is no way in hell im getting the same specd laptop back, its either an upgrade or money back thnx -
going to change my order today.
-
Only ATI cards?
-
nooooooo
you dont want the nvidia cards...they are the source of the latency and stutter problems (IMHO)!
i wonder how long it will take the dell refresh to occur in australia....prolly another few months -_-
edit: maybe thats why they pulled em...too much trouble -
-
No EPP discount yet. I wonder how long it will take them to update the website on EPP.
-
-
But it should save me $470. Hopefully they have the Blu-Ray burner by the time I order.
EDIT: Anyone know of anyone making a 7200RPM 640GB drive? I believe that is a mistake on the RAID setup, but if not, then all the better. -

spoke to tech support alienware euro, and their system has the blueray avaiable. although they dont have the refreshed system online yet as i spoke to them this morning!

11:01:03 raghava_reddy_varala how may i help you ?
11:01:55 Sam Jones Can you please tell me when the Alienware m17x EU/UK
refresh will be? Last week Dell removed a lot of customisation options from the
m17x making it even more undesirable.
11:02:16 Sam Jones More undesirable compared to the US version
11:03:23 raghava_reddy_varala I am afraid
11:03:53 Sam Jones afraid of what?
11:04:13 raghava_reddy_varala we do not have any information
11:04:15 raghava_reddy_varala regarding this
11:04:21 Sam Jones Oh ok.
11:04:30 raghava_reddy_varala may i have your e mail address
11:04:36 raghava_reddy_varala so that i can update you by e mail

11:04:53 raghava_reddy_varala thank yo
11:04:58 raghava_reddy_varala you
11:05:09 Sam Jones No problem, can I have your email address to?
11:07:05 System The session has ended!
As you can see, i'm not holding a massive amount of hope. -
The UK's M17x is still C2D only, but it's a much better deal than it used to be at least. 2.8GHz C2D as standard and a single 4870 with an extra 4870 being so cheap.

I'm dying for the RBG -
I can't wait
probably 2-3 weeks before I order, and then 3-4 weeks before I get my hands on it and start benching!
-
weddingvideos4u Notebook Consultant
I'm not getting much luck finding out anything about uk launch, very frustraiting
-
-
Hm, I might just sell my current M17x once the refreshed ones are available in Europe.
-
weddingvideos4u Notebook Consultant
just spoken to alienware tech support europe, and the only thing they would let on was they thought it would be same time it normaly takes. ie when m17x was released.

mmmm
1920*1200 lcd vs 1920*1080 led????? -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
really?
i'm not to screen picky but you would take a lower res because it is led???? -
The LED is still 1920x1200.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
these are the choices
17-inch WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 (900p) [subtract $250]
17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 (1200p) [subtract $100]
17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p) [Included in Price] -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i need to put my contacts on. i swear to everything i saw 1920*1200 lcd and 1920*1080 led. lol
-
How would a 1920*1080 resolution work? That would be a 16x9 res on a 16x10 frame/bezel..lol
-
HaHa, but yeah LED all the way, better battery life, longer life span, and brighter light.
*Edit* Too bad I have to wait now though, hopefully Dell will process my refund quickly. At least the week or so before I can order will allow them to work out any kinks i guess. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that's what i want to hear. the benifits. (i didn't feel like looking. lol)
that's the reason why netbooks all have led in them instead of lcd even though they are trying to keep the prices low. the pro out weighs the cons. -
benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
