I have seen a lot of people mentioning that the Q9200 quad core is the best deal on ebay right now. has anyone tried or is anyone planning to try one of these out in their rig?
it will most certainly be compatible with the machine...i am just curious if it will OC and if it will (it should) how high it will go...2.9? 3.0?
someone try it![]()
-
i want to get it but i can't afford it now
you should be able to unlock the multipliers -
if someone was to try and and was successful id probably hop on the boat quickly after that.
i wonder what kind of price i could get for some black market processors in china (i live in china but im american)...i bet i could beat ebay prices here and to the install in the market to confirm it works before paying. -
well since it is a ES and qx9200 are not offically release Dell might of not put the id string in the BIOS
-
right, thats my worry since it seems Dell/Alienware did quite a bit of custom work on the BIOS.
that is inevitably what will keep me from shelling out the money.
i wonder if dell/alienware tech support would be willing to confirm one way or the other via written statement/phone call. -
doubt it because if they did they would have to support it, and they DO NOT want to support a ES CPU lol
-
sadface.
-
Dell wouldn't confirm because the Q9200 doesn't officially exist and purchasing an ES for private use is technically illegal.
-
exactly they DO NOT want to support a ES CPU
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
-
Doesn't make it legal though and doesn't encourage Dell to offer support for those CPUs. -
if only kaltmond got his hands on the m17x... sigh
-
on that note, i have ordered a QGNG Qx9300 which i believe is an ES chip, is it possible to support the standard 9300 but not support the ES chip?
Just curious -
12345678910 -
-
I couldn't imagine it not working.
BTW, I just ordered a Q9200, but it's for an M17. -
you TERD
i was gonna buy that chip on ebay
payday was tommorw -
There's three still on eBay. Two for $274 and one for $299.
-
no he bought the ES QX9200 ... i wanted that one
and he was a US seller -
It's the same chip. Unless you just wanted to buy it from a U.S. seller.
-
i do like my US sellers...
so the extreme should of had its multipliers unlocked while the q9200 does not? -
-
All Q9200 should have their multipliers unlocked if the BIOS supports the chip. Whoever was selling it just threw in the X as an ad-pitch.
K|N Nagamaki for example has it listed as Q9200. -
-
-
I'll post screenshots and let you know how it works.
-
-
Moo, all ES's have the multipliers unlocked.
And this guy bought it from over there too. While I trust overseas sellers, everything I've ever ordered takes a bit longer to get here. Plus, this one was free shipping while the other 2 charged shipping. -
-
Honestly, I was trying to decide and was back/forth. Then my wife shouted out she was ready to go see "The Hangover" so I clicked buy and purchased it.
She doesn't know, and won't especially since I got laid off last week, so SHH.... -
oooo bummer
hope you find a job soon -
Gf told me to buy it "or i will keep on moaning about it" so in the end she brought it to shut me up -
Yeah, I didn't even tell her about it...at all.
I actually wanted a T9900, but they're a bit too high for me. -
-
but the seller cancelled
-
-
Hey Moo,
The seller just emailed me and he's shipping it out today
Sorry, had to rub it in a bit. -
Moo how adventurous are you feeling?
Since you like dual-cores you should get a P9700 and see how high it OCs with it's 25w TDP. I wanna see if it'll gain .53Ghz like the P8300 and hit 3.3Ghz.
It retails for $348 from Intel so for an extra $74 over the Q9200 you can have a CPU under warranty. -
not that adventerous .... i would love to but the money ooooo the money....
honestly i don't like quads but if they are as cheap as a fast dual i would buy them ..... so right now im considering a q9200 -
I've already pulled the trigger on a Q9200. I was going to wait it out but seeing as they seem to be selling like "Hot Cakes", I decided to just go ahead and pull the trigger. I made an offer for $265.00 and he took it. For the price you can't go wrong!
-
so far it won't overclock
-
Nope no overclocking for my Q9200. Now it could be just my chip and someone else will have more success then i and i hope they do .
-
.... i want to test ....
-
What do you mean it won't overclock? As in the multipliers are locked for you or you just can't get it stable?
I know I've had mine up to 3.06.
What spec did you get? QAVS?
I just saw in your other thread that your multipliers are unlocked. What's the problem? -
QVAS
every OC will not work .... bumping multi's or pumping FSB
BSOD every time -
Exactly what MooMoo said . Anything i touch on it makes it flake out beyond the stock speeds
. Sad Panda here trust me.
-
Odd, mine's QAVS as well.
-
What voltage is it running at?
-
I yanked it out already but i believe it was 1.257 ish. At first i thought maybe it was the RAM so i threw back in the stock Dualcore and i can do 1333 FSB and 1200 ram stable so that ended that theory.
-
Hmm, well sucks you had bad luck with it. I wonder if it's just an M17X thing.
Did you ever run a stress test at the stock speed?
m17x Q9200 compatible w/ OC?
