I'm planning on removing the RAID set up when my notebook comes, i know what i need to do through BIOS, etc. i was just wondering after reinstalling vista and the drivers, if theres a special way the command center needs to be installed(read some posts about people having trouble), or if it just takes care of it itself. also wondering if anyone has removed the RAID on their system and if theres anything special about doing it on this notebook.

Nothing special as far as RAID goes - just use the nvidia RAID BIOS to configure (or de-configure, in your case :))

As far as the order of install, install Windows updates first (NO drivers from the update, just Vista updates), then install chipset, video, audio, and the rest of the drivers.

Finally, install all software - command center should be last.

But when i get my replacement i will be reconfiguring because they did my raid 0 that i ordered in raid 1. So i expect them to do it wrong again. Hopefully no issues But I bet you will be fine.

oh yeah, don't leave the Crysis DVD in there when you do it. The Crysis characters will blow out your lights in your system.

I've heard that it's better to install audio before video drivers on M17 due to the resume from sleep problem. Can any one confirm/deny this?

It was fallout 3...jeez mandrake. only post nuclear war could destroy the lights of the m17x. No chance a guy in a nano suit could touch the m17x. Its aluminum..duh

You can do it that way as well (not sure if the M17x has that same problem).

The main point is to install drivers before apps (like command center). The first driver should always be chipset.

I am most liekly going to have to reinstall vista+drivers when i get my new machine cause they have messed up a a few peoples orders on raid 1 or raid 0.(Me and two other guys who messaged me on youtube.) But yeah, chipset is first, alienware tech support advised this order to me.
    Chipset
    OSD
    Discrete graphics card
    wireless
    audio
    blutooth
    touchpad
    media card
    remote control infrared
    webcam
    then applications (command center)

It initially seemed to work, but later proved not to fix the stuttering. The sleep issue seems to have been fixed by Vista SP2 though.
