LaptopMag has posted their impressions of a m17x that they got to review with SLI 9800M GT. Technically, the 8800M GTX and the 9800M GT are the same card, but it's interesting to see Alienware shipping any 9-series cards at all. I've heard one user said that Alienware's Roswell support told them they were testing the 9800M GTX for their notebook lineup. Is this a sign of a hardware refresh coming? Will the m15x get 9-series video cards, too? The knowledgebase was updated for a little while to say that the m15x was getting the 9600M GT, 9700M GTS, 9800M GT, and the 9800M GTX as configuration choices, and Alienware shipping out a review model of the m17x with 9-series video cards pretty much confirms that a hardware refresh for the m15x and the m17x is imminent.

I wish they do a better Review then that. Ya everyone know about the Keyboard lighting. But just saying it has a 9800 I wish? but Untel they show us spec, 3Dmarks and FPS in games. That review kinda uselsss to us.

Yes I hope the 9800 will be the next gpu for the M17X. I would like to upgrade my system to it.

That was just their first impressions. They said that they'll have a full review with benchmarks soon.

I hope they'll upgrade to Montevina + 9 series cards. It will help the M15x with lower temperatures. Hopefully there woun't be as many problems as there are now.

Why don't they show some games running on it?

the hard drive upgrade isnt that big of a deal. they would of probably had a 128 gig ssd as an option if it was released along with the m15x. at the time of the release there was only a 64 gig version. the m15x would be able to handle a 500 gig ssd whenever that comes out

and if for the m15x count me in....
but even if they are in the works, there is ZERO sign from AW over this.
i mean if you look at current pricing even....they have not dropped the prices to encourage buyers to even consider last years model (as it were)...

i still have hopes, but they are fading fast.... :(

I noticed that too! On the uk site of alienware the options (processor) have become less and the prices for the m17x have gone up :/
