    Hey all,

Been fiddling around with my new m17x notebook and am curious if anyone has been able to get XP pro installed on it? I BSD during the install. Im sure its a HD controller issue, and have tried F6 with Intel controller drivers from the m15x as well as the Dell 1730. None seem to work. Any help would be appreciated thx.

Ive seen different threads on it, but havent seen any success stories.

I also have yet to get around the BSD myself.
When I had last talked to Alienware on the phone, someone had said they were going to be working on supporting it but of course, no time frame. I'm patient but if there is a way to get around it now, im all for it.

After using Windows Vista Ultimate for a few months I can't see why anyone would want to use XP anymore. I guess it's the same as the old muscle car guys vs. the new high performance cars.

Vista is just so much more fun than XP. You couldn't pay me to go back to XP. Sure, it's slightly better for gaming but overall experience is dwarfed by Vista.

Soon it won't be better for gaming, if it isn't already.

Im curious. Since people find it neccessary to derail every Xp thread with a Vista is better than XP reply, have you all actually ran benchmarks yourselves? Ive been re-installing Vista since the day it came out, clean installs with latest drivers and tweaks in hopes I see performance gains in Vista, and they have all turned out to be at least 20-30 slower than XP. Aside from my Alienware Laptop, I have 2 other serious gaming rigs and this has been the case with both.

Maybe im the odd man here... and you all have great success with Vista. Congrats if you do, but for now Ill stick with old faithful....

And P.S. I love muscle cars.... however I drive a CLS 55.... but thats another story....

I agree, every thread seems to be cluttered with, hey why you want to do that? games run better in vista. but ill tell you that for games like Hellgate London, i have tremendous mouse lag that i cant seem to fix unless i turn everything to the minimum.

Despite what is better and all that "oh why would you want to go backwards" bs. One of my reasons is that I cant use Vista at work, so like, even if vista makes my games so real that they punch me in the face making my socks fly off, i still need to have xp so that i can stop using this old dell they leased from like 4 years ago.

so can we please stop derailing? I am being patient since AW told me they were working on xp for it, but had no idea for how long. and if that was a lie just so i wouldnt finalize the RMA return, well you stink then
