so i got my m17x about 2 months ago as a replacement for my previous dell that broke. The model i got, shipped with a core 2 duo processor. i was dissapointed with this.

my question is, can i upgrade my processor to a core i5 or even i7?

NO! The Core 2 Duo model is the R1 series, you'll need to return that and ask them for the R2 model with the I series CPU! What are your old Dell specs? Is it a XPS16 or XPS M1730?
