ive been wondering if all m17x's have an LED display or LCD or if you get to choose. i got mine about 2 months ago as a replacement for my xps m1730 and i havent been able to find out what kind of monitor i have.

is there a way to check. Ive check device manager, alienwares website and gpu settings just for good measure lol.

    any advice?

Is it an M17x r1 or M17x r2, the r1 has a two different LCD screens, the r2 can be LCD or LED. I have an r1 with a WUXGA LCD, you can check your Service Tag on the DELL website and see how your M17x was configured originally which should tell you what the screen is.

I am not sure if Hwinfo will work but try that. Use a reall dark background, and open up a google webpage, minimize and maximize. If you see it getting darker and lighter, you probably have the normal LCD.
