Hi, im deciding on whether or not to purchase the m17x or the m18x depending on whether not i need dual gpu's. but mainly because they have HDMI inputs, AND carry dual hard drives.

What my questions is, would it be possible to Install a 256gb SSD as the main hard drive, and just add a 750gb HDD as the secondary. all on the same laptop? i plan on partitioning them anyways.

Totally. That is exactly what I plan on doing, except my SSD is 128gb.

You can definitely do that. It will give you fast speeds on the primary drive and large storage capacity on the second drive. Essentially the best of both hard drive technologies.

Sparky this is what I did with my m17x r2. I have a 256 ssd and my operating system drive and a 500gb for a storage drive. I am very happy with how it has worked out.

okay sweet, thanks for the reply guys. so essentially i should just order the 750gb included off dell's website. then just buy a SSD cheaper then dell's?

I'd check on the HDD too. You can often just get the smallest HDD they offer then upgrade cheaper though something like a NewEgg etc.
