i just got my m17x and i ran benchmarks in street fighter 4 and resident evil 5 so far. i have to say i'm extremely happy with street fighter's performance on this machine. with all settings high i got an avg of 159 fps!!! now when i tried the resident evil benchmark, not so happy. all settings high 45 to 59 fps avg.
my specs are a q9000 oc'd to 2.4 ghz, 4gb 1333hz ram, dual gtx 260m's in sli, and i run everything at the native of 1920x1200.
i just wanted to know if this is normal performance for a machine with these specs because i have resident evil 5 running on my gateway 7805u at an avg of 70 to 76 fps!
specs for gateway are a t9900 at 3ghz, 4gb 1066hz ram, 9800gts, and i'm running at native resolution which is 1440x900.
i really thought the dual graphics cards would give me a major boost in fps on resident evil...but its not. is this normal fps guys?

What vid driver are you using? Would http://magicboxlive.blogspot.com/2009/09/resident-evil-5-need-for-speed-shift.html work better?
What fps do you get when u run the M17x at the same resolution as your gateway? -
Your test mean absolutely nothing... On one machine you compare FPS at 1440x900 and on the other at 1900x1200.

well sorry joe...i shoulda mentioned that i benched my gateway as well on my 46in lcd at 1080 and it still got higher fps than my m17x...i could run it at 55 to 63 fps avg.
also thanx sagermeister for the suggestion. i will update to the 190.62 drivers and try it out. also i will test re5 running at the same res as my gateway at the 1440x900. -
Resident evil is brand new...but the comparison between the two games is very dramatic from what your saying. Can you try another game maybee and find a medium. Comparing desktops to laptops isnt really any ones thing either, you dont see reviews with comparing the two much...As much as it might pain you that your not geting the performance in re5 that you thought you would, you might find in other applications it will make up for it.
m17x ok fps!?!
