    Hey folks,

I recently purchased an Alienware m17x and am now have some major issues. The computer will turn on however, the screen wont turn on and it seems as if nothing is loading. I contacted technical support and did the whol run downs of removing/testing the video cards, memory cards, hard drive, and wi-fi cards and still got nowhere. Does anyone know if their is a cmos reset on this machine or if I can perform some other task to resolve this issue?

In addition, I have had the same issue before and if I left the battery and ac power plug out and it would fix it.

I was pleased with the support tech but I really dont want to send it back in for service.

All your help would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Whizzo (Hi, how's things)

It sound like you may have a currupted boot file somewhere. If you put your Vista CD/DVD in and boot from that (using boot order selection menu) does it boot and if not can you run a repair?

i got the same problem one night i just turned off my "allpowerful" then next day it was "nopowerful" for me the problem was "more than strange THE BIOS somehow cleared out" but i fund a solution
1, download the A02 bios from dell extract then close the flaser (you can do it on other pc)
2, grab the C:\dell\drivers\R235673\A02\CRISDISK.ZIP extract it and run WINCRIS.EXE you will be need a small usb tick follow intuuctions.
3, plug the drive intu the eSATA socket (this one got the power share) :D
4, take the battery out than press [FN] + plug the charger in keep hold the fn+b combo than press the power button keep hold the fn+b util yu see the alien eyes start glowing this will take 10 15 min (my alien has not glowed but continously beeping during the process).
5 unplug the charger put the battery back and your "allpowerful" allpowerful again....

Resetting the bios is rather easy. Take out the battery. There are two screws you need to take out in order to take the bottom panel off. This should reveal the cmos battery and the wires going from it to the mobo. Unplug the little clip at the end of the wires then put it back in. This should reset the bios if you need that.
