m17x r1 few minor problems

Hi new to these forums cut a long story short i owned a m1730 xps it died after 11 months they sent me out a replacement m17x full spec Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU Q9300 @ 2.53GHz 8 gig of ram etc etc, since day one had the audio problems they sent out tech guys 6 times to my house to fix it new mainboard the first time didnt change anything then new graphic cards nothing i then pointed them out to http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/...dpc-latency-for-alienware-m17x-customers.aspx they seemed to have no idea it was such a big problem next they put in ati cards which didnt work so the tech guy put in the old nvida ones and stuffed it up 30mins later the laptop turned off overheated so they sent out new mainboard graphic cards cpu fans etc seemed to all work fine i i did the bios a03 update and half way thru the laptop froze so they sent out a new mainbaord the tech guy himself did the bios update and in front of his eyes the laptop froze again so i took out the hhds and they took the laptop away to get fixed at the warehouse got it back the keybaord wasnt installed the way it was meant to theres metal stick out of the bottom right hand corner also still audio problem so they sending out a new r2 full spec i7 extrememe etc so i cant really complain lol

Problems i found while having this laptop for 4 months,
When a usb mouse in plugged in it diables the touchpad as it is meant to do when you pull out the usb mouse the touchpad still remains disabled???
Sometimes when u change the volume the little blue pop up doesnt come up?
On start up sometimes the system icons dont come up?
The touchpad is terrible to use i have used a m11x and it has a much better one.
Command center fusion doesnt work i did up date to the latest command center and as u guys know it doesnt work lol

Thats about it thought i would share it with u guys! i cant wait for me replament !

 

wow, how can you get exchanged for a full spec M17x? DELL usually decrease some components unless you pay the compensation?

what country are you living?

 

hey in Australia yer paid only like $400 for the upgrade cpy and ram and also another year warratny and 280 nvidia got new r2 replacement totally free comming in 2 weeks just in build process u guys got those problems i mentioned?

 

i have the same touchpad issue
for command centre, i uninstalled it since i found it buggy

 

There is a setting to not disable the touchpad when an external mouse is installed it is set to disable as DEFAULT, this is in the BIOS if I remember correctly, I have mine set to not disable the touchpad when the TactX is installed.

 

hey i want it to disable when its connected but it should re enable when u pull out the usb mouse

 

If you have the touchpad icon in your taskbar, right-click and select 'Pointing Device Properties' and then select the 'Device Settings' tab. On this tab, half way down is a tick box with 'Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached' ensure this is enabled.

 

hey its enabled and like i said the touchpad is disabled when the usb mouse is attached when i pull out the usb mouse the touchpad remains disabled!
