    m17x r2 battery not charging

    hey guys from memory it used to charge i think i might have done FN and F2 and stopped it now it just says its plugged in AND NOT charging, when i turn the laptop off the blue light says on and doesnt go off

    any ideas?

    Mines doing the same thing at times. I dont know how to make it charge and not charge on demand.

    yer same ive done fn and f2 again and it says enabled is ther ea bios settings mayeb

    You need to do a power drain periodically ;)
    Unplug the power cord, remove the battery, press&hold the power button for 20 sec, - see what happens.

    Also, it's recommended to recalibrate the battery once every couple of months, means discharge it for 100 to 0% and then charge it back to 100%.

    This is the exact answer! I had the same problem with my M15x yesterday, drained the power and everything was in perfect order again. Truly the first-thing-you-gotta-do-when-your machine-has-a-glitch-solution. Completely discharging the battery completely and then charge it again is better to be done a bit more often. My Dell battery got screwed by waiting about 2 months. Better to be safe than sorry and do it once a month.

    hey ill try that toinght so i unlug the power cord and run the laptop till it dies then take out the battery and press power button for 20 secs then put battery in abd plug in the power and fire it up and see if it chargers?

    Why do all alienwares have this problem? DAting back to the ARea-51 series.

    I might be wrong but IMO because of the huge thermal budget of the system (often 200W+) more static residual charge is getting "trapped" inside the system thus affecting the sensitive inner components (battery, FX board, etc)

    Another option is if you hit Stealth Mode...that will prevent the battery from charging if you have inadvertently enabled that travesty of a setting...
