Can the smartbay on the m17x use an additional power supply like the m15x or is it only for an extra hard drive?

I did ask about this. Here a few posts on Alienware.com. No I do not have a extra battery but thinking of getting one. At the most I think it will give us 3 Hours of battery life and in games about a hour and a half in gaming Unless it in single gpu not sli.

Ok the M15X has a smart bay battery Will the M17X Support a Battery as well and yes it not listed on the Products. But it would be nice having a Smart bay Battery extended use.

I just recently purchased a new m17x, and am very interested in the smart bay battery option. I called to order one, and the support department could not find it in the system. Can you give me a part number so I can call back and order one? Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,

I had just gotten off the phone with support when I made the post the other day... I am wondering if you can look in to it and confirm for sure if the smart bay battery is an option for an m17x. Thanks!

Hay Aw-Warner You might want to add this as a added Feature for the M17X. Becuse it not listed there everyone keep going M17X can not use the smart bay battery.

Nice thanks. The added battery bay makes this a better choice than the dell 1730.

i dont really trust those AW CS people. in the m15x there are two ports in the smart bay area. one is for the dvd and hard drive and the other one is for the smart bay battery. the m17x does not have the port for the smart bay battery so i dont think they will use the same port for the dvd the hard drive and the smart bay battery. Theres also no reason for the smart bay battery not to be released when the m17x was released. It is also not listed in the features of the m17x. In the smart bay features theres dvd and hard drive but not a smart bay battery.
