I always shut down my pc but i just realized i have the sleep option but not the hibernate option which could be quite useful. Is this something not available with the m17x or is this some kind of driver or windows issue?

Cant seem to find the answer anywhere...

huh.. so it is a windows issue.. weird.. thought it was hardware related.. thanks for the links batboy.

Question though, sleep consumes power right?

When you say it "uses a nice chunk of HDD space", you mean temporarily or just by enabling it it reserves a "chunk" which cannot be used or appears as taken?

    Thanks for the help!

It reserves a nice chunk which is allocated specifically for hibernation use. Think of it as a giant swap file on the order of 5GB or more. :)

Sleep consumes very minimal power - according to this link (again, Google) ;), it lists it out as 1-6 watts.
