My friend owns the m9700 and after using it recently I noticed that his screen seems to be really dark. I have used it in the past and never remember it being this way. Is there a known issue with this? I went through all of his settings to see if he messed something up to make it this way and everything looks good. I'm sort of confused. Also, while playing World of Warcraft the colors don't seem to be quite right. On Mana bars that should be a dark blue, it looks more like a light blue while still being really dark (brightness wise). Thanks all.

hi bud i just sold my one last month... try fn key and at the top i think its f6 for darker and f7 for lighter and see if that makes a difference, it might be even f7+f8 it should have like sun image on the key, so keep fn pressed down then which other key for lighter or darker.

It's not that, the backlight is turned all the way up.

Alright I have run out of ideas. This has to be either a driver issue or hardware. Has anyone run into something like this? I have tried a couple newer nvidia drivers but will try the ones provided by AW to see if that helps it but I doubt it will. What peice of hardware could be causing this?

Its the crappy screen. Regular, non LED screens, lose approx. 50% of their brightness after the first year.

Reinstall the drivers first to eliminate any software related issue then try connecting an external monitor and see if the issue persists on the external source. You may also check the video settings within WoW, does it happen with other games? Let us know.

We've tried several drivers and I just hooked up a CRT to it and used them side by side. It is a screen issue for sure. I don't think his laptop is under warranty and he doesn't really want to spend the money sending it so I guess he will just have to live with it. Thanks.
