I have an aurora m9700 notebook and have been having problems with my screen. I didnt experience any problems until right after my 2 yr warranty expired(guess that's how its set up to work).
My laptop powers up but I get no display on the screen. I called alienware and they walked me thru the process of swapping the video cards(the 2 already in the computer). This worked temporarily but now im back to the same problem.
It powers up but no display. Will buying a new video card solve the problem? Or is there something else I need to do.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your system. Have you tested the system with one card at a time? This will help you determine which card is defective and if this is even the case. Also, connect an external monitor to se if the issue persists on the external source, if it works on the external monitor then it may be the LCD cable but do those two things first then let us know.

Yes, the slot closest to the processor is the primary. Each card should be tested on the primary slot.

I tried both video cards in the primary slot. When I tried the first card by itself I got no display. I tried the next card by itself and the display light up, it was still a black screen but I could tell the screen was on cause I have a dead pixel. I also tried the external monitor and no results.
What should I do next? Does it sound like the video card is the problem. If so I'll buy a new video card. Or could it be something else? I just want to make sure cause I dont want to spend $300+ if its not going to fix the problem. -

Thank you for the info,
It could be either the motherboard or the video cards since you get no display on the external source. Did you make sure both cards where properly seated on the slot? Would you be able to get a video card to test it out? -
I havent touched the computer for 2days since I tried switching around the vid cards....It doesnt do anything now when I push the power button.
I dont have another video card to test and see if thats the problem for sure. Well now since you say its either a vid or motherboard problem I might just end up selling it and buying something else. For the price it will cost me to fix it I could buy an HP since I dont really game anymore.....any idea how much I could sell my m9700 with those problems? -
not much lol couple hundred is ur lucky i just bought a m9700 lid for my m17
