first off, i dont really know what i'm doing. that being said, my m9700 laptop's video card is busted and i'm not sure what to do. does this sound reasonable: buy a computable video card and just put it in? since nothing is easy about this it's probably a solution that doesn't work, but i'd like to know for sure. also, if that won't work, is there anywhere reputable that i can take it?

Sine the M9700 uses MXM, it would be pretty easy. If you know how to apply thermal paste and unscrew things, then you will be fine. So far, the only tested GPUs that work with the M9700 would be the 7900GS and the 7950GTX. The latter is on ebay right now from an international seller if interested.

yes, it would change it for the better. The m9750 uses a 7900GTX that is much better than the m9700's 7900GS.

If you can find a special Amira type MxM 7900GTX it will work with your m9700. Have you called AW for details on thier available cards?
