I've had it happen a few times, then after a random amount of time, usually less than three or four days, everything will go back to normal.

I will be playing something like TF2, FPS will be great, no issues at all, then randomly everything will drop to 15fps max. If i try any other games, they also run bad (eg: CC3). I had checked GPUZ before, and speeds were fine, but what I didnt check was the 2nd card in the list. I just checked today, and one card is at the proper speed, the other is at 200/400.

Any ideas why even after a reboot it wouldnt go back up? I left GPUZ up and refreshing on one monitor while loading a game on the other, and the speeds didn't go back up then either.

I have tried updating my drivers several times over the course of this problem, never makes a difference. If I recall right, it is supposed to downclock to this speed if on battery, right?

    Thanks for any help!
    -Doug

Played with it a little more today. When I pull the power, the other card goes to 200/400. When I plug it back it, it goes back to the proper speed. However the one card remains at 200/400 with or without power.

Any ideas? Faulty card? Faulty drivers? (ive used from the early 170s to the 177.23 now iirc)

well, i think drivers are responsible for the card's clocks... maybe the SLI driver (if such a thing exists :D) is faulty, and not relaying the clock speeds to one card properly or something?

I hardly ever run in SLI actually (except when maybe I play Crysis or something). I had been using the last drivers for probably 2 or 3 months with no issues, then just yesterday the speed dropped while in game, and has yet to go back up.

Plus after it happened, I removed the old drivers, installed newest version, and it didn't make a difference :(

You are sure you have all powermodes to maximum performance. No stealth mode button or anything pressed?

windows is set to maximum performance...plus nothing should have changed while in game normally, right? And whats this stealth mode button?

I dont run SLI normally because I use dual monitors most of the time, which doesnt work in SLI :)

the stealth mode button is only a feature on the m17x and m15x. on the m9750 there is no stealth mode. you should give stone a pm. he should be able to help you with your problem.

    Alright thanks again, much appreciated!

And yea running Vista x64 SP1. Everything was running like a champ until the other day

I think since I have been on x64 this issue hadn't happened. When I originally was on x86 I seem to remember it come and go a few times, but didnt last long at all (overnight was the worst case)
