I recently just got a new graphics card (8700M GT) from Alienware because my 7950 GTX broke. I just put it in yesterday and now my camera doesn't work, it's just a grey screen when I run the BisonCam program. The blue light for the camera starts flashing too and then the screen is really laggy. I tried reinstalling BisonCam but that didn't work.....any ideas?

I'm assuming you uninstalled the camera drivers and reinstalled them?

If not, then that should be your first step.

it's really frustrating me lol I don't even really use the cam but the fact it's not working makes me mad. World of Warcraft is giving me 7 fps since I've gotten this new card too, which makes no sense at all. To make it worse my laptop isn't under warranty so I doubt alienware is gonna help me with this situation at all.

Have you looked in device manager to see if the device is working properly?

Pretty common knowledge that the 8700M GT doesnt perform as well as the 7950GTX in Directx 9, phone up Alienware and complain that they sent you an inferior replacement which has broken your camera and gaming performance.

dude seriously there is no way a 8700m gt will give you 7 fps in WoW...

the Video card would not break your camera either .

but the 8700m gt is less powerful then the 7950m gtx, I would of raised hell on them if they tried that

well they didn't have any 7950 GTX available (out of stock) they said. That's what I wanted, I'm talking to them now so I dont know maybe they can put a special order in and get me one of those.

man I swear to god my laptop is going to the crapper soon, it's gonna be a $3000 paper weight lol. My graphics card busted and I could only use Ubuntu for like 3 weeks and now that I got this new card I can go into windows and I can't hibernate or do a stand by >_<

    Hi

    My first suggestion would be

1- Check the Function Key, Webcam switch FN+F4 (Check Device Manager for changes)
if that does not make a diff try reinstall Chipset, Video Card and Webcam Drivers
    2- Load Bios Defaults
3- Windows System Restore (Check for the a recent restore point when you remember the webcam was working fine)
4- Reseat Webcam = Cable Answer ID 5605 or http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/...2hfdGV4dD1tOTc1MCt3ZWJjYW0*&p_li=&p_topview=1

    Good Luck!
