    Hi!

I got back a few days ago from my university to enjoy Thanksgiving break with my family, and I finally got to open my new Alienware m9750. The build quality is completely amazing, and I have no regrets shelling out the dollars for this beast. However, I seem to have noticed a small problem with the screen, and I am not sure whether this is normal or not. I seem to have noticed that the screen appears grainy and not very white at all. When I open notepad and move it around the screen, there seems to be some gray sand sparkling and shimmering when I look at it. The pattern appears stationary and does not move when I move the notepad. I am not sure whether this is normal, but I do have a Samsung screen in my old Gateway M-152XL that is really bright and has true white, but compared to the LPLF600 (LG) screen in the m9750 seems to be off and a lot darker. Does this mean that I have a grainy screen? If so, is there some way that I can get Alienware to swap out this screen for a Samsung one or something?

    Thanks!

you can have them swap the screen, but no telling what you'll get as a replacement. i do seem to remember some m1730 owners sending their lappys back multiple times until they got a decent screen though.

the lplf600 is usually some what grainy. sorry to say that. the lplf400 is not however im not sure what panels they are shipping but i know almost every lplf600 i have seen was a bit grainy. usually what causes this on a glossy display is the coating itself that they apply most of the time the display was matte and a glossy coating has been applied. this may not have been done of course at alienware but a lot of places offer thsi service like screentek and almost always when i have seen these screens that come matte and have the glossy coating applied they appear grainy afterwards
