In the lower-right section of my screen, it appears that that there are dead pixels. It's definitely not dirt or a smudge as I have wiped the area multiple times (plus it's smooth to the touch). Although it's small, it's aggravating because I'm aware of it being there and so my eye is continually drawn towards it. Is there anything that can be done to address this? Has anyone else experienced the same thing? If so, what did you do? Is it worth telling Alienware about something seemingly so minor? It just seems that for the amount of money spent, there should not be any dead pixels at all.

    Thanks for any feedback!

Interesting. I just recently discovered that I have one almost EXACTLy at that same spot. It's not dirt and it seems like it's behind the LED screen.. like the lighting behind the lcd screen. Very weird that you have the same thing.

When I first got the laptop, I didn't notice anything wrong though and it's not enough for me to be annoyed by it. I'll make a pic later.

Well if you talk to AW they should be able to fix it. When you buy any of their laptops they promise that if there is ONE dead pixel in the center or 2 on the outside they will replace your screen. :D SO give them a call!!

Thanks for the responses. Maybe I will just give them a call and see what they say about it. If I hadn't spent $3,600, I could probably just ignore it. I also didn't notice it until recently and have had the computer since November.

As a sidenote, I've already sent the computer back 3 times to get an audio problem fixed (rattling). It was returned back to me the first two times still unrepaired--third time worked out, thank goodness! Maybe in the course of working on it or with all the shipping something happened to the screen--I've no idea. Quite possible that I never noticed it because it's harder to spot unless there's a light or white background and I had the default black Alienware desktop for quite a while.

    Thanks again!

try to unstick it. there's some website that flashes the base colors really quickly and apparently that can get pixels unstuck.

    Hi Fiver,
Based on what I see in your picture, it doesn't look like a cluster of dead pixels. Dead pixels are characterized as pixels that are no longer displaying color. The dark corners might just be a characteristic of the brand of screen. Every screen is designed to light differently, and consequently, not all areas of the screen are evenly lit. Some lcd screens are darker towards the bottom while others are darker towards the top. This screen seems to lack light in the corners. My lcd screen has similar characteristics.

    Hope this helps,
    Gabe

I had similar stains present on my refurb M1730's Samsung LCD when I initially received it. Dell replaced the LCD under warranty.

Hm... my m9750 seems well light and evenly too... I'm not sure why yours would be like that. :S

ooh, i have a question. for a little while before i got my laptop, my desktop monitor was doing something weird. basically, if i were to play FFXI for even a few minutes, there would be a ghost image of the chat log sorta stuck on my monitor. if i left it off for a few hours it would go away, but it didnt take much for it to come back. ive been using my laptop for gaming for a few weeks now, so i havent really given it a chance to come back. but do you think running that program on this monitor would do any good?
