Hello fellow Alienware enthusiasts! I bought an m9750 awhile ago. I have 2 issues. First is I bought it on ebay and now can't get any tech support form Alienware. But that's just a tiny thing. I would really like to figure out why I am having this rattling sound in my sound. I have it with or without headphones on, and it also drastically hurts my FPS. I've updated my sound card driver but that didn't seem to do anything. Recently it just turned on and now it won't stop. Could someone please help me with this issue so I don't lose all usage of sound for this computer?

PS I used the search function and didn't find anything

My speakers in my m9750 go crackly sometimes due to pressure from the palms of my hands. Your problems sounds like the on-board chip may be going bad. Also, when installing new drivers, make sure you use DriverCleaner before hand, and make sure DirectX is completely up to date. If you still have problems after doing all that, you most likely have a hardware issue. At that point it is time to invest in an external sound card.

I ALWAYS get crackling speakers after a fresh XP install/driver install.. it totally sucks. The only way I've been able to solve it was using Alien Respawn and it cleaned it right up.

Moving to Vista or Windows 7 RC.. no issues with sound at all. I wish I could give you better information but that's all I got on this =(

SO it seems like Vista may be the problem? And it's somewhere inside the computer because when I put on my headphones it is still doing it. I think I might 'upgrade' to XP but I can't decide. I have 4GB of Ram but Vista can't handle that much. Does XP allow 4GB? Also, Grey does your m9750 have random slowdowns? I have this occasionally and I was wondering if it wasn't just me
