At first, I wanted to purchase the m15x, because I've heard many good stories about them, and they seemed really nice. Now, I'm beginning to wonder if I should buy the m9750 rather than the m15x. All of these reports of faulty parts and overheating are making me have second thoughts.

The m9750 has been out for a while, and I haven't heard any bad things of it either.

I would consider buying the m17x, but I can't afford it, so that's out of the question.

If you are paying for the looks, go for m15x by all means. Regardless how faulty it is, m15x is still one heck of machine compare to current m9750 - which only available with 8700m GT.
If you are more about the performance/buck ratio, check the sager NP8660, NP5796, and NP9262.

I don't care how ugly a laptop can be. As long as the performance is satisying to my needs, and I get my bang for my buck, I'll be okay.

The Sager NP9262 looks nice, and has quad core. I'll definitely be checking that one out.

the m15x is actually like a gamble. if you get a good m15x you would love the m15x alot and you would feel like you bought a great machine and made a great decision. if you get a faulty m15x then you will really hate AW and hate the m15x.

I'm gonna have to flip a coin or something...

Right now, I'm deciding between the m15x, or the Sager NP9262, but I'm more for the m15x as of right now.

Actually, size doesn't really matter to me. As long as its not bulky and heavy.

I just want a notebook with great performance. I don't want to be another victim of faulty m15x's.

I absolutely love my m9750. It does not have any of the problems that have been reported by m15x owners and will still be a good machine for another couple years. With dual 8700's I can play just about any game on maxed out settings. Sure, I'd rather have a 8800GTX, but I'll give that for peace of mind in having a system that's been out for a while and proven itself.

Let me put t to you this way,

Alienware WILL screw you. One way or the other they WILL screw you. I have had the m770, the m9700, and the m9750 and have had my problems with all of them.

    First of all,

Alienware is the kind of company that will nickel and dime you anway they can... im not trying to beat on them, MOST companys do anyway but I dont know if I would like that from a company that I plan to invest several thousands of dollars to. Also Alienware possibly has the worst costomer support in the world. Somtimes I would listen to how the freakin costumer support people would talk to me and I would just think, HOW IN THE HELL COULD SOMEONE TALK TO ME THIS WAY AFTER I HAVE INVESTED ALMOST $10,000 IN THEIR COMPANY. It truly is amazing.

    I can only warn you,

    DONT DONT GO WITH ALIENWARE.

    You will only be dissapointed.

The m15x is far more superior to the m9750, but I'd rather have a reliable machine rather than one that is at risk.

What's this new Clevo m-something notebook I'm hearing about?

If you're looking for a quality 15" laptop get the Sager NP8660 that Miho above me mentioned. You can get a better laptop for a couple hundred dollars cheaper than a similarly spec'd Alienware. Not to mention customer service leagues ahead of Alienware...

There two thing I like about the M15X is Stealth Mode which save alot of power. Then the choice to get a Smart bay battery which will give you more battery life. And smart bay hard drive.

Clevo has good stuff. Like Quad core. But there only a Small % of programs that will use Quad cores.

I don't think Alienware will nickel and dime you and screw you. I love my m9750, of course the motherboard in it just went 2 days after the warranty expired. I thought I was screwed, but Alienware(the company that's going to nickel and dime you) said they would give me a grace period. So they replaced the board and they paid all of the shipping. They emailed me a label to ship it to them, also I had upgraded parts that I did not get from Alienware my hard drives and memory and they still fixed it, I was told that it had to have the parts that first came with it, but was not a problem. So I'm getting my m9750 back without being charged a dime when it was out of warranty. Other than this problem with the board it worked great for the year that I had it, and as far as the board going bad sometimes these things just happen can't blame them for that. I've built many computers and sometimes you just get a bad part.

the m9750 is based on technology that came before santa rosa, which came before montevina, which is the current intel mobile platform generation.

I'd look at the Sager notebooks long before I'd consider Alienware.

Alienware used to be a good company, now that they've established themselves well, you can just read the experiences of people who've bought their products lately on these forums.

I'm considering a 8660 myself as soon as I get the scratch in 2-3 months, I don't see myself being disappointed at all.

All you're doing is paying for a name, and that doesn't mean the laptop you get from them will be better than someone else's offering that costs less.

IMO, just save the money you'd spend on the Alienware, deck out the Sager, and use what's leftover on games you wanna play on it :)

i know what platform it has, Because i own one -.- but what is he trying to prove?

@ GamerPro25, i'm not trying to start a bad relation here, but the topic said m9750 VS m15x not something VS Sager, so my suggestion is go to the Sager section and start cheering people up to go out and get a Sager.

Why don't you just read back a page?

Vitotherm says he thinks the m9750 is the best notebook in it's class... so Prasad replied, stating that the m9750 is based on old tech and therefore outdated and not top of it's class... simple enough, brainer?

well, it depends what does he mean in "class" like when it was released? then the answer is obvious. but if he mean on 17inchers, then the answer is obvious aswell. its not the top of its class..
