Hi guys,
A guy has offered to sell me an Alienware M9750 for £750 (approx $1072 USD). It has the following specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33GHz
2x 512MB GeForce Go 7950 GTX SLI Enabled
2GB Memorey
320GB (160GB x 2) 7200 RPM Hard Drive
Windows Vista
17" Wide UXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD
+ wireless, bluetooth, driver/recovery discs
etc
I'm not good at this type of thing but to me it looks like a good deal, i'm mainly going to be using the laptop for playing world of warcraft (which is a processor hungy game) and some graphical 3d animating programs.
Does anyone who knows about these machines know if this is a good price for the laptop? or am i being taken for a ride so to speak?
Any help/advise is appreciated
Thanks.

For 1300 you could get this:

get it. a 7950GTX sli setup smacks around that 9800m gts. plus its cheaper, comes with a nicer screen, and is in a sexy case.

hmmm i dont think 7950gtx sli is better than a single 9800m gts....especially both overclocked....9800m gts can hit 11k range in 3d06....anyways maybe go for the m9750 and get cheap 3870's from someone when the 4870's come out for the m17

WoW hates SLI , it will stll run great if you disable SLI. So just a forewarning

ummmm i don't think you should get 79xxx series. it had alot of overheating issues.

Thanks for the replies guys, i've decided to pass on this one after checking some reviews on it.
Your right there were quite a few posts on the net about it overheating and it's processor causing some lag spikes in wow due to too much heat after prolonged useage.
For the price it didn't seem worth it for what i wanted, last thing i want is to pay quite abit of money to find it dosent do what i wanted it to do.
Checked out alienwares uk website and their cheapest 17inch gaming laptop starts at just under £1,100 (1,572.68 USD approx) which isn't a huge difference compared to what i was prepared to pay for the other + i'd get a nice 1yr warrenty incase anything goes wrong.
Might check other websites that do gaming laptops see what they offer in the range of £500-£1500, if anyone knows of a good website with competative prices for UK customers please let me know
Other than that I might wait untill either dell or alienware do some special offers on gaming laptops as i'm in no hurry at the mo.

also those cards doesnt have stream cpu's. this is what all games use now. if you were to compae the 9800mgts to the 79 sli.at higher res. you can turn up the graphics more if you are a eye camdy perwsom. but it it might be close if everything is shutdown... what other computers are you looking at.
m9750, thinking of buying
