Had one.... Returned it..... Couldn't handle games like the way they promised.

I even sent it back so they can check it.. And they replaced the heatsinks on the cards.. When i got it back it still handled the same way.

example. (even with settings not maxed.... and different drivers)

    1. Blacksite.... couldn't handle the navtive resolution on the screen. even lower res. mad choppy
    2. Bioshock.... played okay some stutter but black boxes appeared on screen all the time
    3. Stranglehold..... couldn't handle N.R.... stutter
    4. Jericho... same as above
    5. COD 4..... same as above

    Forget about crisis

unreal 3 played good.. only some stutter... hardly happened

Also had problems when I opened the lid screen wouldn't come on,,, had to close it and open it a couple of times for it to work.

    here are the spec's
    highest processor they had
    sli 7950's
    4 gb ram
    windows xp pro and vista
    3dmark06 was around 8700
    1900 res. screen

I went for the sager np9262 instead. Just waiting for it to be shipped

Didn't want to wait for the m17x.. why should I.. When the m15 is nothing but problems... for what I hear..

And why would the m17x be better than the sager np9262.. I'm still getting 8800 sli. and it has a desktop processor.

I mean if we are looking for a desktop replacement why not go for the sager np9262...... DESKTOP PROCESSOR............

And it will be cheaper than the m17x anyway..

I know some guys would agree and some will bash... I still want to read what you guys think

    Thanks.

P.S. Just wanted to warn people if there looking to play these games and they think they would be able to play at all settings high.. It just wont happen.......

No offence but m17x looks much better than a big industry factory.

np9262 is one of the heaviest notebooks.

m17x is more portalbe than np9262

Why not go for a desktop for 800$ and you will get the same performance as the np9263?

You need to have some reason to why you need a notebook, if you're not going to move it, get a desktop.

man i dont know what are you talking about i play cod4 on my m9750....and it runs pretty smooth...though i myself was a bit surprised recently when i installed company of heroes and it fails to run smoothly on max settings i dont know why though. and thats the only game i experience a problem in, but im dont have a problem with it specially when considering the fact that its an alienware and i always used to think this is one computer i would never be able to afford. I love every bit of it. Oh and good luck with the sager, you will get a major performance increase but in my opinion thats a bit dull looking laptop. Just my opinion thats all

    1. Blacksite.... couldn't handle the navtive resolution on the screen. even lower res. mad choppy

Blacksite.. I played it with one 7900GTX on full Details on my 7700.. This Game was very buggy..

    2. Bioshock.... played okay some stutter but black boxes appeared on screen all the time.

    What? Same like above..

    3. Stranglehold..... couldn't handle N.R.... stutter

    Never had this Game..

    4. Jericho... same as above

Ugh.. Very Hardware hungry Game.. but played it with Medium Details with my 7700..

    5. COD 4..... same as above

All on Maximum Details with one 7900GTX..

Dont know what do you make wrong.. But if would try to played it with my 9750, i think, i can play it with Max.. Ok with Crysis have my 7700 Problems, but played it with all Medium and 1280x1024..

    Sorry my English..

Well I sent the machine back and they claimed it was fixed,,, they changed the video card heat sinks..

On cod4 Couldn't play the game on All high.

Already have a desktop that I Built myself.

I don't care if the m17x looks better....... When I play my games I'm looking at the screen ,,, not the outside of the notebook

    doesn't bother me if it's 1 pound to 1 1\2 heavier... M9750 was heavy and I didn't have a problem..

Your problem was most likely the crappy video drivers that the M9750 ships out with. Sounds like the same issues that users had months ago with the 156.xx OEM driver.

nah,,, Tried different ones from laptopvideo2go ... I even got which drivers to try from here..

    3dmark06 scores around 8700....

If i was having small performence issues with the games out now. just imagine a year from now...... And chances are you won't be able to upgrade the video to the 8800m...

So far (received my 9750 saturday, sounds same as yours but the 7200 CPU)

Just tried bioshock: runs great IMO on one card, havent tried SLI yet, and thats at 1920x1200 all settings high. didnt notice the black boxes o.0

Sounds like either drivers were messed up (most likely) or one of the vid cards were bad (least likely, since would probably crash the computer)

Sorry to hear about your problems. I have a m9750 and I can play crysis on high with my "crappy" 8700m cards, COD4 is perfect, and UT3 is perfect. I will admit I had problems getting the system set up the first month or so but once I got SP1 for Vista and installed the new drivers (174.16) everything has been smooth since. For some reason I had to install the 174.16 drivers twice, they didn't work at all the first time.

Sounds like an issue with your specific laptop and not the m9750 in general. Hope you are happy with your next box.

You're only using 1 Gig of ram and a single 7950 vid card right Travis? The m9750 can run COD4 without any problems when configured correctly, the only game that i've come across that makes it feel too weak is Crysis.

crysis on high? lol... c'mon don't lie. crysis does not play on high. my m9750 with sli 7950 averaged 9.5 fps on the benchmark on high at wuxga res. i don't think yours does any better. even lowering the res to 800x600 the performance is laughable on high.

and people, of course cod4, bioshock, ut3, all these games will run fine! they run fine on xbox so it's a no-brainer they will run fine on the m9750 with it's much stronger gpu.

with sli 7950 gtx, i could play crysis on high with some crappy drivers... i got about 15 fps. though, i tweaked some of the settings and kept the shaders high, and i ended up getting around 40-50 fps. i max out cod4, though i turn off stupid things you don't need when doing multiplayer to reduce the amount of fps changes, like no shells ejecting from the guns, no specular mode or whatever its called, and low amounts of bodies. perhaps a few other things. this is just to make sure i stay a constant 90-100 fps.

Well for one it will almost be like having a full desktop tower on your laptop (weight wise) and secondly you will have to be rushed to the hospital for the 3rd degree burns that desktop proc will give you...

Must be an issue with your specific unit. I play COD4, Bioshock and UT3 all at native rez with all settings high with no problems. Crysis is another story but I don't really like it anyway so its not an issue. May have been a bad mobo and the AW tech just didn't check it properly?

the d901c is the coolest laptop with a desktop proc ever created!

    my GPU oc'd 8800 gets 11489 3dmarks in 06 600-1500-950.

32 degrees at idle. and 64 max at CRYSIS.

I get 30fps 1680x1050 all high constant in the crysis benchmark tool.

my CPU is 38 degrees at idle and 58 degrees at load.

the d901c is fine unless you are a weak handi-non-capable girl?

I take it anywhere. and it's a bloody powerhouse. eats anygame I give it.

and when I get another 8800m next week. it Will stomp what's allready getting stomped which is all but the 1730. and will be soon enough.

I repeat, I can play Cysis on high with SLI 8700s, but not at full WUXGA res.

Your m9750 has 1 video card and 1GB of ram? That explains that.

the 8700's are very capable at lower resolutions.

combined they can do just as good as dual 7950s at resolutions under 1440.

this is because of the restricted 128 bit bus.

but they do great at lower res.

    *cough*

    From Chaz's review of 9262:

"It is assumed that the Sager NP9260 runs hot and loud by many. However, this is simply not the truth. Even with two of the most powerful video cards available for notebooks, a desktop processor, and four large-diameter fans, the NP9260 runs surprisingly cool and quiet. The only audible sounds are the soft rushes of air flowing out of the back of the notebook (which is essentially all vents). There is no real fan motor noise. The air coming out of the back is definitely warm but not flaming hot as might be expected. Even at full tilt, while the fans spin faster the noise level is not significantly increased. Those four fans push a lot of air – while standing behind the notebook I could feel a warm breeze, even 5 feet away. The NP9260 will be a nice companion in the wintertime."

    *cough*

I had a d900. It DIED after a year, as did many many others.

I will not purchase another Clevo Clone, especially not one with a desktop proc.

I have a 9750, and I am VERY VERY happy with it.

When I do upgrade to 4gb of ram, I will still have a 7950gtx. How much will the performance increace from 3 more gigs of ram? 1 7950gtx should run it smoothly, so I assume 4gb will fix it?

Also, If I send it in to get sli 8700's or 7950's, could I ask them to apply thermal paste? Also which runs cooler, the 7950 or 8700 sli?

8700 runs cooler but is a slower card. they will apply thermal paste if they do any work to it don't worry. ram does not increase your frames per second it is only needed if you are lacking it to load the game into memory and reduce hard drive access. you dont need more than 2.5 gigs of ram right now for any game out there so don't bother upgrading.
