    hey guys i've got a really annoying problem here.
    in my mcAfee it says under computer and files: "the detection signature file is more than 30 days old." when i click fix it checks for updates and tells me everything is up to date. it has a big red x and says my computer is not protected. can somebody help?its been like this for a while now

    Have you tried to reinstall mcafee?

    yeah, re-install. or switch your AV software. i like to recommend either Avira or Nod32, depending on whether you're willing to pay or not :D

    i read somewher that if i'm going to re install that i should then download it and not take it from the cd. do you know why?does it matter?

    the downloaded version will be more up-to-date than the one from your CD.

    problem resolved fellas and wow do i feel like such a noob here: i had my lan settings on using a proxy server and detect settings automatically.thats why it wouldnt work! my home internet was fine so it didnt cross my mind!
