yeah sorry i showed you how to find out for sure, but yeah, thats the graph i love to hate..

note its showing the incorrent 8% overclock off the stock freqs, just like mine. I know someone here posted a screen from riva that didn't have that issue, just curious what version that was.

Alienware now sucks because it was taken over and now owned/operated by Dell. Just to clarify.

It is actually not operated by Dell. Many people make that mistake.

fusicon and alienware/user... I encourage you to post in the AW forum your downclocking issues and the link (from this thread) to the Rivatuner graphs you have run. I also suggest sending AW support an email noting this issue.

right now, there are only 6 posts on the issue... there should be at least 10 more (consider all the people who have said they have a problem).

    Alienware operates themselves still.
    Dell owns them.

believe me i've been trying, but my account number isn't being recognized, so i can't create a login for the forums. i have another ticket open on that.

and i havn't even begun to address all the minor issues with them like why doesnt the camera software crash out of the box, and whats with the creaking snappy sounds when i open the lid, and meh, using this laptop has become a part-time job. :/

If you talk to alienware, they clearly state they are their own company. Dell owns them, but Alienware operates on their own and utilizes their own management.

What is the best utility for checking GPU temp on my M15X? Cannot find the thread that had that info awhile back. Thank you.

    The best are:
    - Nvidia nTune
    - RivaTuner
    - ATITool

riva tuner is best altough gpu- z is a faster download and is more light weight to run.

google HWmonitor from CPUID.com. I think its better than their GPU-Z. I ONLY use rivatuner now but you will have to do a few steps to get it working the way you want to. However EVERYONE should be using rivatuner to see where their system is falling performance wise. I have been able to play games consistently with no downclocking unless I am purposely benchmarking over and over to get this thing to downclock.
