    Just wondering what the part no and type of DDR3 memory I should be looking for to upgrade to 8 gig in my M17x. I know its PC3-8500 but there are alot of choices ecc, non ecc etc etc.

    At the risk of looking incredibly stupid...I used this site to find upgrade ram for my old desktop a while back, I don't know if they carry newer stuff.

    Pretty much all you need to know is that it's non-ecc (more than likely you'll KNOW if you need ECC memory) and that it's PC3-8500.

    Another handy thing to know about memory is that it is ok to put memory chips that are faster than the system can support. The chips will automatically work to support a slower clock.

    Never put slower memory chips into a system that cannot support them.

    Really though, it's pretty tough to screw up buying memory for a laptop these days.
