OK so just then I thought everything is ok, I started to get the famous blue windows screens from time to time. THe computer is fresh, what can be wrong?(as I think this should be a software problem). I didn't instal so much stuff in it... Just kaspersky, some benchamarking, tune up utilities, UT3...

I think it's funny... whenever someone has a computer crashing, a new thread appears saying "A problem...".
I NEVER had a computer that didn't crash with blue screens... That doesn't mean, by a million mile, that they had "problems". Software problems happen now and then.
If you think your M15x is great, don't be upset for a blue screen. They are EVERYWHERE.

I would download CCleaner and run the registry check see how many problems you run into. (or of course I think any other registry cleaner would probably work)

Yeah, this sounds like general Vista dumbness. I would also recommend that you patch Nero 7 if you haven't already (or haven't uninstalled it) because the version that AW sends has lots of problems with Vista.

MrDJ -You and I seem to be sharing a same kind of fate :) . My m15x crashes more frequently then my previous Sony or Dell. And as of recent as you may be aware my HDD took a permanent vacation altogether!

Blue screens are common to me after I shut down some game I have been playing. It was pretty common after coming out of a session of NFS: Most Wanted (Dont ask! - I just keep going back to that game for some reason). Infacto it was so common that I just prepped myself to see the blue screen after exiting the game!

MrDJ, you are very special.. :) Arent' we all? :D
Anyhow, I recommend all you guys to have a look at this guide and tweak your VISTA OS. I did it with my Dell XPS M1530, and it did make a difference:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532

It's a brilliant guide, and a must to all the new Vista users. Make sure you read it well, and if you are not an expert... Don't improvise.
    Take care,
    M

I have had my current Sony Laptop, a 15.4" FZ115Z, for three years and have NEVER had a Blue Screen Crash. EVER.

I have always kept it upto date with the Vaio Update Centre, which has inlcuded numerous BIOS, Driver and Software updates. It is stacked out with games, software, mods etc. and has worked hard gaming and surfing online for many hours every day.

My m9750 is now in Phase 4.... I hope I am not about to be subjected to the BSoD on a regular basis with my new beast!

Just a quick question - Did any of you here install Vista SP1. A thought just occurred to me now that I started seeing the BSoD after the SP1 install.

ive had the fastest shutdown on the planet for the last 4 days.
it only takes me 2 seconds to shutdown > pulling the plug out. ok,to tell the truth it was only for the first 2 days. it seems to have settled down now (fingers crossed). :D

wow! thanks for the link milcs, and thanks to Les for posting it. no wonder i hadnt seen it before as it was from july last year.

    good question Sabapathy
i think anyone that received their beast this week will already have it loaded. any idea of the ms serial number for it as it doesnt show as sp1

Thanks for all the info guys, yes, mine came with SP1, I think nero could be blamed. Anyway, since blue screen is most probably software related, I should sort it out. Will check the registry too.

Test your RAM. It could have gone bad.

Run the Vista Memory Diagnostics program on the boot screen.

Can anyone see what the BSoD is saying or is it the quick flash then restart??

If it is the quick flash, you can disable the auto restart...I know how to do it in XP but not in Vista though =(

I hope this helps....by turning off the restart you should be able to read the error and google it....chances are m15x owners aren't the only peeps getting this...

Does the comp. crash while gaming? If so I'll be pissed because the reason I'm getting the m15x is so I can game without lag and crashes.

Also vista has been out for about 2 years, why haven't they fixed this crap

    Wow!

Tx mlcs and MrDJ for the compliment. Its the first I have heard quoting it as brilliant. In all fairness though, the guide is alot of work from so many on this site that I cannot even count. I will accept the compliment for all and say thank you again.

Les in person... I would use the nice opportunity to thank you personally. It's a work of many but you made a terrific work putting it together! Thanks for that, and I'm sure I'm speaking for so many people out there. First when I started using Vista, it fastly became my "bible". Thank you a lot, it made all my Vista experience so much better!
