yet another problem has come up with my m17x that i got from dell as a refrub, i truly think they didn't install many things.
The problem i am having is with something called the "media keys" well that is what they are called in the CC is what i know.. they are the lights of the volume,CC button, wireless, eject button, ect..
anyways all of a sudden they just went out, im not sure if i did this with some settings because i just noticed it right now, my girlfriend actually noticed it. i did a system restore thinking some program made them go out but that didnt work, the lights are just not on, only the media keys are not on though, the keyboard, mouse pad, ect.. are still lite up.
has anyone ever heard of this problem before? do you think the light is broken or a setting is messed up? i also went in the CC and tried changing the color and that didnt work.

try a hard reset:
1) Turn off power
2) take out the power cord + battery
3) hold the power button for 15 secsonds
4) turn on pc.
Does it still not light up? Does the power button light up? Make sure you didnt set the "black" color to the media panel. If it still doesnt work it might be a hardware fault -
Try what wattos suggested and if that doesn't work, remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the laptop that hold the media panel cover in place and lift it up. The cable probably came loose and needs to be put back in.

PS: i just tried finding the thread i couldnt, it had like 35 pages and the beginning was an admin posting some cool colors for the CC and then evryone was posting their own.. -
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\
right click on CommandCenter.exe and go to the Details Tab. Look at the product version. You DO NOT want 2.5.44.0.
