    i have a M17x r2 with an 820qm and dual 4870's. it has been utterly fantastic, and have had no problems with it until yesterday. whenever i open the latop the screen either does not turn on, or after a minute or so it just shows my backround picture. everything seems to work, it just wont show anythings. (sounds, drives etc still work) just nothing being shown. also crtl alt dlt just amkes it go to a black screen.
    is there a function i might have accidently turned off, because i have a feeling its porbably something simple.


    p.s. if i restart the computer it boots just fine

    OK, first I am assuming you close the laptop, then open again later.
    It sounds like your laptop is set to go into sleep mode when you close it, and resume again when you open it.
    The problem seems to be it is hanging on resume from sleep. An easy fix is to adjust power properties to have the laptop do nothing when you close the screen. I had to with Vista (but works fine now with 7).
