Hi! It is your lucky day. I just purchased the upgraded CFU fan ( P/N J77H4 11.7 CFM) for my Alienware 18 and removed the old one. So the good news is, I have the exact fan you need. Only problem is, I had to extend the wires for the new fan by cutting some length off of the original one, but as long as you have an extra fan you can just snip the wires and connector off and solder them onto this one.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, I can do it for you, and I don't mind shipping to Canada at all it will be very affordable.

Also, it is quite odd that your having issues with the replacement fan you bought, was it a OEM factory dell part?

thanks :) but i found a P/N J77H4 11.7 CFM For 30can $ .. i found out that i could use it and it as double CFM.. How's the new fan compared to the 5cfm one? anything noticable?

The used fan i bought is from a Ebay store .. its probably heavy used and slower ... i never really had that problem with the original fan until it broke. it came to me it had rust on the metal.... so .... its been store in an wet environement i guess that is the problem!

Nice find, to be honest I don't notice much of a difference but physically it must be there so for the $50 bucks I can't complain.

last fan i bought was from this guys (the present fan i use with rust and cooling problem) .. seem's the fan he sent me is not spinning full speed.....

EDIT: well il be damned it was the liquid ultra that needed reapplying ... don't if its because i might have touched the heatsink while replacing fan or if its because i made a poor job the first time .... grrrr

That's the reason why I don't recommend using CLU. It's not that superior compared to GC Gelid Extreme or IC Diamond to risk computer components health.

Unless you consider the difference between thermal shutdown and staying below the throttle point not that superior, maybe it's not. For me it means the difference between safe operating temperatures or thermal shutdown, but I never run my CPUs at stock clocks. They are always always overclocked whether they need to be or not. The liquid metal thermal pastes are the only products capable of handling that. IC Diamond and Gelid GC Extreme both allow the CPU to get hot enough to shut the system off during severe load like Cinebench or video rendering and liquid metal thermal pastes do not. IC Diamond is excellent for GPUs (they generally don't get as hot) and CPUs running stock or minor overclock.

I started using CLU in January 2014 and it's awesome. Now I only use liquid metal paste on 2920XM, 3920XM, 4930MX, 4930K and 6700K. Works amazing for all of them. I even put some on my wife's XPS 15 (BGA crapbook CPU) about 9 months ago. It has never run as cool as it does now.

I always manage to get within 1C of the same temps when i use TX-4 or Gelid extreme. but I have to get the paste real hot and use a razor to apply it. Usually taking me 8-9 tries to get it super thing and even spread out. The issue with this for most users, is the heatsinks are not perfectly flat, or people have trouble getting them flat on a Laptop. You are only putting thermal paste on the CPU to fill in any microscopic gaps on the surfaces. Moreso on the CPU itself, even, then the heatsinks, as its the die that can crack and get too hot, not the heatsinks, so really, things to be mindful of - hair, dust, air gaps (SERIOUSLY an air gap, no matter how small is the difference between using and applying thermal paste properly, and better off using butter or mustard, because it will do just as good a job if you don't apply it properly.)
I had a guy argue with me once that in Soviet Russia KPT-8 is best thermal paste.... its not. Not by a long shot, don't use those old white silicon thermal greased, no matter what someone tells you on a CPU....your better off using bread as a thermal conductor then that crap. (whats with the Sandwiching going on here?? Must be hungry)
