is alienware releasing a new case design any time soon? i'm interested in buying an alienware but don't want to end up buying an old one just as a new one is about to be released. also upon a new release is it better to wait a few months before purchasing it? that way more customizations will be available and the price won't be as high.

on another note, can you recommend other laptops that are both aesthetically beautiful and powerful as an alienware.

also how is the cooling on these gaming laptops? i'm not an expert but it seems to me that all this powerful hardware in a compact space is not good for it.

No new design any time soon, - probably Q1 2011.
Jumping on a fresh tech is becoming a beta-tester ;)

No other laptops have both similar power and beauty.

Cooling is one of the best, build quality is even better :)

Not going to find anything as rugged the rest are plastic, and the LED screen 1200p is jaw dropping. Last note the spec's are so high end I would not worry about it becoming outdated any time soon, like years.

Hey guys thanks for your input. Hopefully it's genuine and not just alienware bias. I'm sure its legit though. I think if i purchased an alienware and saw another laptop i liked their still would be no regretful thinking. personally do you guys like the m15 or the m17 better. also does the m17 fit in alienware's backpack. i'm just curious what makes their cooling system good and what kind of temperatures am i looking at.

Yes it fits, I got the messenger bag lots of room. :D As far as the M15x or m17x depends on what you like to do. m17x fine for surfing and playing games regular stuff. Got a nice single GPU no worries. If your into heavy gaming and are on it a lot the 17 in screen cannt be beat. Some extra weight and size but hey it's a desktop replacement, and that it is  I had the 305-701s Qosmio, Asus g73jh and the build on these is way much more, and you pay for it.

Well, there's no absolute product and AW systems have plenty of issues as many other laptops.
CrossFireX is not perfect yet. Here and there you may see some flickering in games, drivers are not perfect either.
Single GPU solution would be better in terms of stability but if you need the max gaming power - go for CF.

TouchPad is a total crap. If you only use external mice - disregard this warning. Otherwise, you might wait till Dell fixes the issue with the new driver.

Personally, I had a few issues with CF for the past 6 months and am not too happy about it. But Dell proves to have a great support and my system was recently replaced with a brand new machine (with free upgrades that would normally cost ~500$). So I'm not gonna complain much ;)
Build quality is indeed a superb one. Other than the mentioned CF issues my M17X is much more reliable than a business grade Lenovo workstation (W510) that my wife has. Had 3 M17x systems for almost a year and not a single freeze/crash (other than from abuse - installing unsupported operating systems and/or drivers).
