new to all of this but on com=nfusing thing i am wondering and yes i have read the thread on this but it still boggles my mind////

    1. when i overclock my q9000 i get the fsb to 1300 and the mem to 1285 that is as high as it gets with no issues and the highest my temp gets is 65but others say they run 1333 at full tilt....why cant i do that i have 8 gigs of ram blaa blaa......still jsut dont understand.....

    2. why is it that the command center and osd has to be installed for the brightness and the wireless to work the best...(per level 2 alienware support)

trst me i am new and need a lil love people.....but the highest 3dmark score i get is 14858 and i dont get it how everyone has such better score.....drives me nuts

overclocking the video cards is always a good idea :)

Overclocking on the CPU, don't beat yourself up over it, some chips just OC better than others

Good luck with the new machine!

    now that i have vented

    65c is fine and some times OC'ing isn't garuntee'd

try flashing to A01 BIOS and it will help you OC further

they have to be installed so that the software recognizes your fn Keys ( still not getting it because mine work with out it ...)

overclocking GPU's is good and will help with performance in games

    lastly 3dmark 06 sucks

Since you cannot change the voltage unless you flash the bios (and it sounds like that as well beyond you right now) nothing will be unSAFE, just unstable. But no damage will be done as long as you use software/drivers to overclock
