Remember SP1 for Vista 32 bit can utilize up to 4.16 gigs of RAM, Dont need to go to 64bit---harder to find drivers and such, plus no 179.13 forceware for you if you get it(best forceware out for 8800m GTX SLI or even 1 for that matter)

Nothing like a good ole' american Buyout, plus it brought my beloved m1730 into reality(m17x with the less brandname cost) so im all for dell assimilating computer companies and stealing their tech. =)

    How does this work exactly?

Also, the m17x has smart bay compatibility, which I don't recall the m1730 having.

I thought that vista sp1 32 will indeed show you when you go to the details that you have 4Gb of memory or whatever you have but it will still use a total of 3Gb. If you open your task manager and go to seethe system memory in use it will be 2.5Gb or something around those lines so if you really feel the need for 4Gb the 64 is still the only way to go. But maybe I am wrong, in anycase i have the vista 32 and i only have 3Gb in use.
